| And I agree any modification is a waste of money on the 300ZX. But we all do it! Anyone who spends ANY money on modifying their Z and thinks they will get that money back is hoping and dreaming foolishly. But if you do anything to make it do more than originally designed - you are spending money to modify. Some focus more on the engine. Some focus more on the suspension. Some even want the "best" audio/visual stuff. (This is the area I personally think is the "biggest" waste of modification dollars.) Seems like there are innumerable posts about "What is the biggest tire I can mount on my Z that won't rub?" It won't be as big as the rubber you can put under the wider fenders! If you don't just race in a straight line and braking is involved, more contact patch is usually better. I still think that more contact patch is better when it comes to launching too. Is $15,000 in the engine "better" than $15,000 in paint and body? You can spend $15,000 on a "stereo". They are all a "waste" of money if we are judging based on any actual financial value or benefit. Even a pristine stock low mileage 300ZX is worth a fraction of the original cost. Even the SMZ model! Modify any one and make any of them worth less it seems. So what are 99.9 percent of us doing when we spend money to modify our cars in any way? We are all pissing money away. Some do it faster than others, but we are doing it in one way or another. So - Lets ALL raise are right arm together and repeat as one: I know when I spend money to modify my 300ZX, I'm pissing money away! When we are asked why? We'll raise our arm again and repeat together: It makes ME feel good about MY car! Too much Time + Too much Money + Bad for your soul = "Addiction" Too much Time + Too much Money + Good for your soul = "Passion" It’s my car, it’s my time, it’s my money, I can afford it because it’s my passion so it makes ME feel good. If it’s your car, your time, your money, have at it. To each one's own passion!
